SUV-B UVB Radiometer

Model: SUV-B Make: KippZonen

Key Highlights

*The SUV-B UVB Radiometer is an essential tool for measuring UVB radiation, which is linked to various biological, environmental, and industrial processes. *Measurand: UVB radiation *Sensor Type: Photodiode (UV sensor) *Signal Output: Analog or digital *Supplied With: Mounting bracket, cables, documentation

Category: UV Sensor

SUV-B is designed and optimized for the measurement outdoors of the UVB part of the solar radiation spectrum in the wavelength range from 280 nm to 315 nm.

The innovative quartz diffuser provides improved directional response over the CUV5 and SUV5 models and the temperature correction is more accurate. The precision glass dome is the same as used in our CMP and SMP 10 and 21 pyranometers. Unlike SUV5, the SUV-B is only available with a 0 to 1 V analog signal output; there is no 4-20 mA version.

UVB typically accounts for 5% of the UV radiation that reaches the earth’s surface from a clear sky and it:
affects the top layer of skin
causes  most sunburns
is linked strongly to skin cancer
damages DNA in skin cells
burns  unprotected skin in as little as 15 minutes

SUV-B can typically measure the daily total of UVB irradiance with an uncertainty of 5%.

A data file is supplied with the individually measured spectral response and a matrix of correction factors for variations in the solar zenith angle (air mass) and the atmospheric total ozone column. These can be used to reduce the measurement uncertainty.
