The SM.2 High Precision Soil Temperature and Moisture Sensor is a professional instrument designed to simultaneously measure volumetric water content (VWC) and soil temperature with high accuracy. It combines Frequency Domain Reflectometry (FDR) technology operating at 70MHz with a precision Pt100 temperature sensor to provide stable and reliable soil measurements for agricultural, environmental, and research applications.
The sensor determines soil moisture by measuring the dielectric constant of the soil using advanced FDR technology, while the integrated Pt100 sensing element continuously monitors soil temperature. Its rugged ABS housing, IP68 protection rating, and corrosion-resistant AISI 316L stainless steel probes ensure dependable long-term operation even in harsh soil environments.
Designed according to WMO standards, the SM.2 supports analog voltage, current, and optional RS485 ModBus communication for seamless integration with weather stations, data loggers, irrigation controllers, and environmental monitoring systems. The sensor can be permanently installed in the soil or used for rapid field measurements.
